To the FINAL decision maker about Tbird screen layout.
You must have no concept of people working on small screens and I wish
you did. That stupid middle of the and take up way too much space email
header bar "From:, To:, Other actions" stuff should be 2 lines at most,
smaller or adjustable fonts for this area only, and not hogging my
screen like it is.
Working on your obviously huge monitor has destroyed your sense of

Lanikai changes fonts in mid-message
Same problem as I have on TB 3x. This may help: It seems to happen
after I have corrected a spelling mistake. Next sentence switches from
Verdana (default) to what looks like Times New Roman.
Odd that there are no messages about Lanikai on this group. None that I
saw, anyway. "What's New in Lanikai" directed me here.

I could post to gmane with TB 2, but not with 3.0 B4
Using TB 3 works. I can send and receive emails.
I could post to gmane newsgroups with TB 2. Now I've upgraded to Fedora
12, which has 3.0 Beta 4, and I get this error message:
Sending of message failed.
Please verify that your Mail & Newsgroups account settings are correct
and try again.
No change in settings. Just upgrade from TB 2, and I can't post to gmane.
But, weirdly, I can post to this newsgroup, yet the settings are the same.
Both use this email account, both use the default server (which I also
use for email - it's a 1and1 account).
How can I fix this?

Probably related to IMAP. Seems to be a race condition. If I delete a

Related issue is that the refresh often moves the message list out from

Message Filters don't behave properly all the time
Hello, I'm using Thunderbird 3.0 RC1 on Windows 7 and Snow Leopard.
I've noticed that sometimes my message filters don't apply properly
and leave some messages out. This behavior seems random.
I have three filters, one to apply a tag to messages from a certain
domain, and two others to move messages from certain senders into
folders so they don't appear in my inbox.
I'm using IMAP protocol for private work email system.
Sometimes a message will appear in my inbox and I have to issue the
Run Now command for filters to get it moved over.

Switch to new tab?
firefox has an option to switch to a new tab when a link is followed.
the thunderbird 3 equivalent would be to switch to a new tab when a
folder is opened in a new tab.
at the moment, this doesn't happen and I can't find an option to make it
happen.
is this a bug or a feature?
is there a config setting or extension for this.
IMHO, when you middle click or otherwise open a folder in a new tab, you
want that tab to be selected.

[Hendrix] Can not exit thunderbird x64 3.0 Beta 4
Name: willytenner
Email: willytennerataoldotcom
Product: Thunderbird Release Candidate
Summary: Can not exit thunderbird x64 3.0 Beta 4
Comments:
Hi,
I just installed thunderbird x64 3.0 Beta 4 called Shredder 3.0 Beta 4
on Vista x64 Ultimate SP2 (German Version). Thunderbird works for me but
there is no way to exit this application. Neither the X-button nor the
menu File->Exit works. The window closes and reopens again. Only the
task manager is able to kill the process.

I notice that (Windows 7) when I click the dropdown view list that the
item under the cursor loses the text. Click still changes the view (All,
Unread, etc) but the text disappears under the cursor.

Name:
Product: Thunderbird Release Candidate
Summary: Double-click, attachment
Comments:
When the mails are grouped by sender or date, double-clicking on a group
header opens all emails in it... That's not good.
There are issues with the handling of attachments, sometimes they just
don't appear.
Also, when trying to open emails, one after the other, I click on a
particular one, and the previous one is shown. Only by restarting
Thunderbird was I able to access the mail I wanted.

Summary: I cannot manually setup a POP3 account
Comments:
When I create a new account, IMAP is automatically set up. and I did not
find any way to manually change Tunderbird's decision :-(
My turnaround has been to set all my POP3 accounts in a Thunderbird 2
environment and to use Mozbackup to bring them to Tunderbird 3.

Beta and RC releases?
Hi!
Been using the great 3.0betas for about 3 months without any problems.
I have noticed that it's fairly impossible to find the 3.0b4 on the
mozilla websites. I have searched several Mozilla sites but can't find a
single notice about the beta process or a download of the beta versions.
With the upcoming RC I wish that the Mozilla websites all got a notice
about the release and in the proximity of downloading Thunderbird 2.0
there should be a link to the RC/Beta releases.
best regards

[Hendrix] How to search just the current folder?
Name: Mark Dulcey

Summary: How to search just the current folder?
Comments:
In Thunderbird 2, you had two search options; you could do a quick
search on just the current folder by using the search bar, or you could
do a more extensive search using Tools/Search. In the release candidate
there doesn't seem to be any way to just look for things in the current
folder; the search bar now searches all my email folders. This is bad
because I have nearly 2 gigabytes of email, saved over the last 15
years, and searchin

It seems kind of akward that Thunderbird still uses it's own addressbook instead of simply
accessing system addressbooks.
Thunderbird should simply hook into macosx addressbook, windows addressbook, gnome

It was wrong after all to invest so much time implementing the osx addressbook hack into
thunderbird instead of getting rid of thunderbirds addressbook entirely and using the

Compose new e-mail and wait long enough for it to be placed in the

The "xx messages deleted" status also occasionally shows an incorrect

Compose e-mail in tabs? Notification issues?
Enjoying using the new beta- it works really well on my mac!
My only real queries are, is there any chance to compose a new message
as another tab in the main Thunderbird window, rather then in a separate
window?
Also, when I click the (growl?) notification in the top right, it
automatically opens a new maximised window with the message. This
doesn't seem to work very well for me, as I usually have two or 3
windows open on the same screen to ease my workflow. Is there any chance
of not automatically maximising the window, as it never happens when I
double click a message in

First of all, thanks for all the great improvements that have made it

I like the tab system alot, but there is one use-case where it annoys
me. When I'm reading emails with multiple tabs open, when I close the
current tab thunderbird goes to the tab next to the one I just closed.
Instead I would like to see it to go the previous tab I had looked at.

I first want to congratulate you on an excellent product. I have been

only issue was a change that seemed to do with Enigmail. Excellent
work!
I would like to request that you look at making the 64-bit (windows esp,
but linux also) a part of regular distribution and testing process. I
have been trying the one from this site is has worked much faster for
me. Thank you. -

Loving TB3.0b4
I absolutely love TB3.0b4 and cannot wait to see it go GA. Only problem
I have is with the latest Lightning. It doesn't behave like the
previous version in terms of CalDAV. We use Zimbra and the new
Lightning does not allow showing Free/Busy info whereas the old version
did. Zimbra is aware of this and plans a fix in a future release but
seems like maybe Mozilla changed something here that broke this
functionality.
Keep up the GREAT work Mozilla team! Thunderbird is an awesome mail
client. The new search and index is wonderful!
