Hello Friends, I'm a .net programmer and developing an application that requires URL from browser. But I stuck on firefox. i've tried many things but non of them works for me. I've used Spy++ and accExplorer 2.0 to see what the hierarchy of the browser's controls. From accEplorer I got the address bar (combobox). I can see that it is there bu don't know the code that let me drill down to that node (comobox). So anyone have any idea for my problem. I'm using .net framework 2.0

[ADMIN] mozilla-accessibility is moving!

It should be no secret these days that the Mozilla Foundation and its related projects are no longer a pet project of Netscape, yet the newsgroups we are using for public discussions still bear the Netscape name. We've been planning for years to move from netscape.public.mozilla.* to just mozilla.*, and the time has finally come! In August, we announced a partnership with Giganews Newsgroups (http://www.giganews.com/) to provide NNTP services for our news.mozilla.org domain. It's taken a few months of planning to make it happen, but we're now in the process of moving all of those newsgrou

FWD: Request for Review: FSG Keyboard Access Specifications

December 18, 2005 The Free Standards Group Accessibility Workgroup (FSGA) works to develop standards supporting comprehensive access to information and user interfaces for persons with disabilities on computing platforms which adopt free and open standards (such as Linux, AIX, and Solaris). The FSGA standards process is open to interested members of industry, developer, and consumer communities. Obtaining public comment on our proposed standards before they are finalized is one of the most important steps in our process. Public review helps ensure our standards are both relevant an

Aaron, after much time and work firefox1.5 SVG is now tab key accessible! http://www.peepo.co.uk/index.svg for example. given that the SVG standard doesn't mention keyboard access this is a significant step. however ff is lagging significantly behind other browsers in respect of - user style sheet - usability. I'm able with a window handle to IE to get IE's DOM and then call RangeFromPoint to get TextRange containing the word under the mouse point and then parse forwards or backwards by character or word for surrounding context. I agree with the comments by David Poehlman. The current proposal seems overly restrictive and limited in functionality. I encourage the developers to design a more comprehensive keyboard model based on the best balancing of factors they can achieve -- in fact, I thought this was the purpose of the original proposal. Simply putting things off as "configurable," avoids hard decisions, and leaves functionality in an unknown state. SVG: XML and keyboard events

Aaron, I'm concerned that mozSVG project still has no keyboard events*. It is important to keep to standards, but it is also vital that users are involved, and can give feedback that informs the development of new standards, and user agents. The current view seems to be that keyboard events will not be implemented, and instead DOM3 will be, at some unspecified date in the future, possibly 12 months away, and dependent on the final SVG1.2 spec. Given that mozilla might have DOM3 support within weeks** this seems an unnecessary delay. The SVG1.1 spec already states that UAs

'Focus lines' suggestion

I'm new to the newsgroup, but here's a suggestion for Mozilla/Firefox - When the user scrolls (via the scroll bars or a scrolling input device - mouse wheel, etc) - outline the current view prior to the scroll with a box. This box should remain for a few seconds... and remain in the same place as the users repositions their scroll on the page. If you are reading large documents it can get confusing as you scroll up and down. I realise that some of the 'smooth scrolling' add-ons will perhaps help you to keep focus of what changes on the screen are happening, but the 'focus line

Easier Tabs

As a former MyIE 2 (now Maxthon) junkie I finally went for firefox when tabs where introduced, however opening windows in a new tab is sometimes too much work. The Maxthon shell (as it was merely an add-on for IE) options allowed users to make a new tab in many cases, including... -New urls typed in the address bar (My favorite) -Hyperlinks in pages (Very redundant until they added the button to toggle this in the status bar) -Bookmarks and Links (I think this is an option in the advanced section but I have not had any noticeable result) Thanks Will

RE: Is keynav to unavailable menu items a bug?

In general, I agree that I would rather know something is unavailable as I'm navigating focus rather than skip it, since that tells me information about the state of the application, e.g., when Control+C is unavailable from the edit menu, no text is currently selected. Also supporting this point, tutorials I've read on Microsoft Office have universally criticized the "personalized menus" setting where menu items do not appear if they have not been recently used. I suppose that if a small percentage of focusable items were available in a particular situation and the time to navigate

Is keynav to unavailable menu items a bug?

Greetings, On the GNOME desktop (as opposed to Windows), it isn't possible to arrow through unavailable items in a menu. Arrowing up/down in menus skips over those items that are grey-ed out. When Mozilla is running on GNOME, Mozilla behaves as it does on Windows - you can arrow to unavailable menu items (and if you are running Gnopernicus, you will be told that these items aren't available). This has led to some confusion on the part of our testers (see bug #155506in bugzilla, at: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=155506). I'm curious what folks' thoughts are on

mozilla and 508:

Hi Aaron and all, If screen readers implement access to mozilla, that would be fine. I am interested in a self voicing mozilla for windows though as a safety net against the possibility that this does not broadly occur and will follow your leads below. My message sprang from my comment 3 where I was in missaprehension concerning a requirement of section 508. The comment concerning narrator arrose from the trace section 508 list where a short discussion of requirements took place. Thanks! MozSVG

Aaron, there is talk that mozSVG might be joining the main trunk. Is there time and energy to add an SVG accessibility thread or WG? here? Mozilla is in an excellent position to set the standards for accessible interactive graphics! an RDF GUI schema (work-in-progress) is here: http://www.peepo.co.uk/temp/gui-schema and a working example of its use here: http://www.peepo.co.uk/launch/index.svg but perhaps that is off-topic for now ~:" regards Jonathan Chetwynd http://www.peepo.co.uk "It's easy to use" irc://freenode/accessibility

mozilla and 508:

Hi all, In an earlier message about the ui the topic of 508 guidance came up. I'd like to take a second to clarify what was a muddy assertion in my message. In 508, we are given to understand that at will work with an application if the application conforms to the standards of the os at least as far as windows is concerned. Testability for this is often done by throwing the two major screen readers at it thus it is assumed by some although I never did find it in the spec but was willing to deferr to my "betters" on it that if it works with jaws and window eyes, it must be

comment3: Accessibility: Future UI Planning

This is my final comment for now on this document and I'm not sure it actually belongs in comments for this document, but it is becoming more and more apparent to me that we need a talking mozilla at least for windows because there are people who do not use assistive technologies who need speech and because the way assistive technologies in windows implement accessibility does not seem to lend its self to a single solution as evidenced in yesterday's Uaag call. My understanding of 508 is that it requires accessibility for software of at least two assistive technologies of the

comment2: Accessibility: Future UI Planning

The following extract from the document says: "Navigation by typing letters - each letter press would move to the next link that starts with the letters typed so far. This could go hand in hand with a single key overlay for one-handed typists." While this is possibly utilitarian, I'm not sure how it would work in practice so would hope that I could have it switched off and use the letter and # heys for something else. Johnnie Apple Seed

comment: Accessibility: Future UI Planning

An extrat of this document says: "Text Zoom Whenever a new window opens, it reverts back to normal (100%) viewing. Text Zoom is really useful for accessibility - it's much more useful than changing fonts, because it respects the author's original content choices. Text Zoom should save state between sessions. New windows should use the saved text zoom value." The above makes the assumption that the author's choice is good for accessibility. We need font styling in the ui. We also need zoom for the reasons stated. Johnnie Apple Seed
