NSS/NSPR on OS/2
I'm trying to use the NSS/NSPR DLLs from Firefox on OS/2 for another
application (libpurple, an instant messaging library). I'm linking up
with them correctly (as far as I can tell), and initializing them in a
standard way, but when I make my first calls into the DLLs, I get a GPF
unless Firefox is already running on the system. When I have Firefox
running, everything seems to work well and I can make SSL connections
through NSS successfully.
My app is GCC and GLIB-based. Is it possible that the CRTL within the
NSS DLLs are not getting initialized correctly? Or is there so

Lost address Book
I am running SeaMonkey 1.1.9 on at TP42P using RC3.
Battery went dead and system took a hard hit. The address book is now
empty and even when I add addresses they do not show up the next time I
open the book. Hard hits have occurred before but never with this result.
I have searched *.LDIF files on the partition where the rest of the
profile is stored (and other partitions as well) and there are none. The
mail survived the hit and is in good shape. I suspect that chkdsk
deleted or removed the file, but saved the remnants of it somewhere but

Firefox 2.0.0.6 clarification ???
posting on OS/2 World.com
Firefox 2.0.0.6 clarification
Posted by Martin Iturbide - Tuesday, 31 July 2007
Firefox 2.0.0.6 was released by Mozilla yesterday. The reason for the
quick follow up to 2.0.0.5 was a security vulnerability deemed critical.
The vulnerability does not relate to OS/2 however, making an OS/2
release unnecessary.

Need to have several groups of news groups at same ISP
Hi Folks:
I have about 100 news groups that I look at once in a while,
depending on what idea I am chasing, all through the same ISP;
I tend to look at them in groups, programming language groups
one day (even within that, Pascal groups one day, java groups
another, ....), OS/2 / eCS groups another, a few others still
another, .... The present setup is too big to handle and too
slow to populate all the groups when at any time, I only want
to see a few of them.
I'd like to have folders containing news groups
and possibly other folders as well, but it seems that one
can't do that

Profile problem with Mozilla 1.7.13
I am encountering what I think is a profile problem of some sort that is
preventing me from using one of the options of PrefBar. The cause of the
problem is that the pluginreg.dat file reflects the Shockwave/ Flash
plugin as both "J:\Moz_Prof\Mozilla\plugins\npswf2.dll" and as
"J:\Moz_Prof\Mozilla\Plugins\npswf2.dll" which prevents the check-box
enable/disable for this from working.
Of course these are the same file, but as PrefBar must work in Linux as
well as other operating systems it must treat these as different. I don't
know why this is showing both versions of the directory n

XIOS
I recently read an article about a Swedish company called Xcerion that
created an XML os called XIOS that runs inside Firefox. They say that
it is OS agnostic so it can run on Windows, Linus and MacOS. Of course
they make no specific mention of eCS/OS2.
I am wondering if it will run on eCS or if it is still tied to the
underlying OS somehow.
Anyone interested can read more at www.xcerion.com or google xcerion for
links to some tech articles. I read some of it but still can't decide.

Hi Peter,
I still have to deinstall and reinstall SM to get it past the 'The browser
needs to finish the installation. Please close and restart.' message. I can
see that it is invoking xpicleanup now - but unfortuntely it doesn't give any
indication if it was successful or what the problem was that requires it to
rerun.
Otherwise it's running fine - but I had no problems with beta2 either.
Cheers and thanks for the great work!!

Firefox will not initialise
I have successfully installed Firefox on two desktop systems, and
somewhat belatedly decided to install it on my laptop. All these systems
are running the same level of ECS 1.2. Mozilla runs fine on all three.
I simply unzipped firefox onto my boot drive and let the unzip create
the firefox directory (exactly as I did it on the desktops). I let
firefox use the Mozilla setup including MOZILLA_HOME.
Calling firefox\firefox.exe it does not complete initialisation.
Naturally I have no clues about what it does not like.
Any suggestions?

Firefox 1.5.0.6/7 memory leak while downloading
I notice a memory leak in firefox directly proportional to the amount of data
being transfered while downloading a large file. Once about 50megs of the
file has downloaded, the available free memory starts decreasing
and the firefox process's memory is increasing in Theseus/2 as the file
downloads. I'd rather download the file with PMDownloader, but some
uploader sites (such as rapidshare.com) only let you download with the
browser. Once there is about 60 megs free, Firefox usually crashes and
can't be started again until system reboot.

Seamonkey, mailto
I've recently switched back to the suite (Seamonkey this time) from
FF+TB partly because of my inability to get FF to lauch TB from mailto
links (and also to get TB to load a new tab in FF when clicking on a
URL), something I assumed the suite would do as a matter of course.
However, I cannot get it to work with Seamonkey. If I use ConfigApps to
blank the email protocol, Seamonkey responds with "mailto is not a
registered protocol". If I set the email protocol to:
Program path: D:\APPS\SEAMONKEY\seamonkey.exe

The last time I used an installer to install Mozilla it put an object in

Hi! 8-)
Sorry for my bad english.
With Seamonkey (all the same which version) I have on the web page of
the www.validome.org following problem:

Cause for this this appears change to the default setting of the used

another font brags or changes just the type-size.
I hope I have expressed myself understandably. %-)

Firefox 1.5.0.6 has started crashing
Hi, I think something has happened to my system, but I don't know what -
sites that worked fine in the past using FF 1.5.0.6 now crash it. (These
are some really exiting site like PG&E!
http://www.pge.com/customer_service/csol.html )
I've tried deleting the FF directory and unzipping and re--creating it,
but that doesn't seem to help. Could this be a problem with plug-ins ?
I was messing around trying to get Flash 7 installed, but that's been a
few weeks ago, and sites that worked a few days ago now aren't working.
I'm not sure how to debug this.
TIA for any advice,

firefox/thuderbird transition problem
hey all..
what's the best way to make the transition to firefox/thunderbird from
Mozilla with regard to bookmarks, passwords, directories, profiles &
message retention?
I've a bit of a problem. I'm not sure how to fix this.
I've run Firefox & Thunderbird, but the import routine doesn't point to
the mozilla files.
the mozilla files are in a seperate directory, L:\tcom\Imail\I-55\scanb31
mozilla_home is not enabled, I assume that means the files that point
to the profile directory are located in L:\tcom\mozllia.org\Mozilla.
please advise.

After restoring SeaMonkey 1.0.2 from backup after a disk crash, I noticed

1.7.13 Mozilla upgrade problem..
Hi Everyone,
I attempted to upgrade to 1.7.13 from 1.7.12 but the install died with an error
about 'missing Personal Security Manager...' (this is not the exact wording).
I recall in the past this occured with one of the earlier releases as well,
apparently something was left out in the compile step.
Mozilla does start up and appears to work fine, but I'm sure parts of it are
probably neither 1.7.13 nor 1.7.12.
Any ideas if a fix is coming? Who to contact?

SeaMonkey 1.0 Nightly 20060217 NASCAR site
Hi,
Could someone please confirm if SeaMonkey 1.0 nightly:
Mozilla/5.0 (OS/2; U; Warp 4.5; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060217
SeaMonkey/1.0
completely freezes their desktop on <http://www.nascar.com/>?
It does on me when I'm scrolling down, and between half-way and
two-thirds down the page the desktop freezes. Sometimes the mouse will
freeze in place and other times it will move for a few moments then freeze.
I'm also running PM123 1.31 rc1 streaming music over the net. The
streaming will continue for a few moments after the desktop freeze
before going quiet.

PmW-FX, PmW-TB: missing icons for RWS extras
Hello, Peter!
I have just installed the latest 1.5.0.1 versions of your mozilla ports.
However, I have the same problem I already had once, which is that the
icons of the default application in which it will be opened (cfr. RWS
functionality) is NOT displayed, though the RWS dlls are present in the
directory. Instead, it always shows the OS/2 Editor icon.
What's wrong?
Regards, JB.

Enigmail 0.94 Updated
A new version of Enigmail 0.94 is available from my warpzilla page:
http://www.dimi.uniud.it/bresolin/warpzilla/index.html
It fixes all XPCOMCOR.DLL crashes with pw-tb and seamonkey, and it
should work also with seamonkey 1.1 alpha.
Ciao....

"Save as" filenames
Is there some way to tell Thunderbird that when I save an email
message with the filename "sample.a11" that I really, really
intend to name the file "sample.a11" and NOT "sample.a11.eml"?
I really dislike software that assumes the user really meant
something else and adds its own choice of extension, because
then I have to manually rename the file.

Hard hang on Java Pages
Mozilla 1.7.12
ipluginw from Sept 2005.
Java Version Innotek 1.4.2_05
eCS V1.2
14.097 Kernel
When ever I hit a page that uses Java my machine freezes hard. I have to
power off to recover. Any ideas on what may be going on? I remove the
ipluginw or the npj2*.dll modules then everything is fine, except that java
no longer works at all on any site.
cheers,

Enigmail 0.94 for OS/2 and eComstation
The latest version of Enigmail is now available for os/2 and eComstation.
It is downloadable from my warpzilla page:
http://www.dimi.uniud.it/bresolin/warpzilla/index.html
current version works with Thunderbird 1.5 and seamonkey 1.0.
It does NOT work with the latest seamonkey alpha (1.1a), since seamonkey
1.1 is compiled with a different version of GCC.

Seamonkey 1.0 (Peter's Install) exit changes?
In Seamonkey 1.0 (Peter's Installer) the expected <ALT X> or <ALT Q>
keyboard input strokes will no longer exit Seamonkey like they have for
a long time in MOZ 1.>. However the <ALT F4> exit key combo still does
work.
