I have been unable to see my own collection in my Collections add-on,
even after deleting the original and recreating it. It worked for a
short time, but not long enough to publish all of my existing extensions
into the newly created collection. Now, I can only Publish extensions
to my collection directly from the website, but even that doesn't always
work. I added another collection and tried to Reload/retrieve
collections, my own still no longer shows up.

xpt file path for scriptable plugins
Hi Guys
I am new to firefox plugin development. I need to write a scriptable
plugin to download and install an application from a website. This
behaviour would be similar to what Windows update website does using
IE. This plugin needs to be installed in a standard user (non admin)
mode.
I have successfully compiled and run the samples ( npbasic, and
npscriptable) provided with mozilla sources. I have a couple of
comments/questions regarding the location and access control required
to install plugins. My target platforms are Windows XP and Vista.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Blog videos won't run right
Hi all,
I have a very strange problem.
1. My daughter maintains a blog for her daughter. She posts pictures on
it, as well as video clips.
See http://www.oliviapolivia.blogspot.com/
2.The Problem - the video clips now only run for a second (or less) in
my current version of Firefox (2) and then simply stop. They seem to
buffer alright but just stop about a second into the video. You CAN grab
the slider and sort of move it along but it will not restart. (I tried
F/F3 with the same result).
3. If I use my Portable Firefox (jump drive) or (heaven forbid) I/E they

Can you do something like cross-browser real-time message, remote JavaScript

Can you ensure web browser running with super speed and much faster than

Can you execute asynchronus requests and block browser navigation buttons at

[HELP] How to get a NPP-type pointer to the current plugin instance ?
Hi,
I'm sorry to ask what is probably a very obvious question, but I have
to adapt an existing plugin for firefox (C++/XPCOM) and I'd like to
use NPN_PostUrlNotfify to post data to a given url.
Unfortunately, the first parameter is a NPP pointer to the current
instance of my plugin, but even though I've been looking for such a
pointer, I still don't find it in the member variables of any class
used by the plugin.
I may try to give NPN_PostUrlNotify something like "(NPP) this" from
the main class (which is inherited from nsISupport) but I guess this
would not give the expected t

I have several plugins that will allow copying plain text but
what I am seeking is one that copies plain text but prefixes

it is easy to grab references along with the page address.
Is there such a thing already created?

make WMP universal video plugin
Hi,
I have set up Windows Media Player 10 to play videos of pretty much
every type.
In Firefox, when I have a video of .wmv type, it plays in the Windows

How can I make ALL videos (eg. .mp4 - which currently wants me to

plays in WMP if I download it!) use this plugin.
Thanks,

How to make Firefox download my plug-in automatically?
Hi, I've made a plug-in and also made the xpi-package.
Then I set up a test page, wrote down on the 'codebase' parameter the

What happened is when I opened the page, they told me to install an
appropriate plug-in (I'm sorry I can't figure out the exact message
since I don't use the english version of Firefox), so I clicked the
button to let Firefox do it. So it searched for the appropriate plug-in

Calling NPN_PostURLNotify in NPP_Destroy
Hi folks,
our (netscape style) plugin needs to save modifications
done by the user, back to the server when the plugin is
unloaded.
In NPP_Destroy the plugin calls NPN_PostURLNotify or
NPN_PostURL. Firefox (or Mozilla) starts the transmitting
data, but stops shortly after. With the result that
the web server only receives a broken request.
It seems that like in the HTML 'unload' event once the
browser gets the idea that is closing down it stops
bothering to send requests to servers, probably assuming
that there would be no point as it won't be around to
receive any responses it

hi folks
i'm trying to create a search plugin for a site i use, "VirusTotal",

the site in question has a search URL format (for stored results) that

where FOOBAR is the MD5 hash of the file that was uploaded. as you can

Where is up-to-date plugin documentation?
Hi Experts,
I want to develop some my own Mozilla plugin, but found that
documentation about this topic is poor.
I checked materials in below sites.
http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Gecko_Plugin_API_Reference
http://devedge-temp.mozilla.org/library/manuals/
The doc seems out-of-date. For example, the doc says NP_Initialize has
no paramter and doesn't mention NP_GetEntryPoints. However, according
to sample code, NP_Initialize has one parameter and NP_GetEntryPoints
comes into play.
Where can I find up-to-date doc about developing mozilla plugin?

How Do I Access MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH
What is MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH and how do I create or access it?
I am running Mozilla Firefox 1.5 in SUSE Linux 10.0 and I can't get the
Acrobat Reader plugin to work with Firefox. The plugin won't start or I
get a message telling me that Acrobat Reader could not be detected. And
the only thing I haven't done is check the MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH environment
variable. I don't know how to access it. Thanks for any assistance you
might give.

Writing Windows Plugins
Howdy,
I've seen a few posts from people trying to get started writing Mozilla
plugins for Windows. Most of the replies direct users here:
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/plugins/
But I still can't find a Windows version of the SDK. It looks like
there really isn't one. So I have to download the Mozilla source. But
I can't find the Windows source anywhere. It doesn't seem to exist in
tarball form. So I need to get it through CVS. Cool. But I've never
used CVS.
Is there really not an SDK, and is there really no tarball of the
source, and do I really need all the source and do I

Questions on intercepting urls
Hi,
Could someone please give me some quick pointers on how to develop a
FireFox solution that will allow me to intercept urls and redirect them
if need be. The urls may be a custom format eg not http://. I need to
intercept them in the address bar and perhaps reload them.
In Internet Explorer I can create a browser helper and listen to all
url calls with IDispatch and DISPID_BEFORENAVIGATE2. I can then use
IWebBrowser2::Navigate2 to reload a url.
How can I create a plugin or extension that would do the same in
FireFox. I prefer to use C++ but may also need a Java version for no

How to get access to already loaded document in Thunderbird?
I want to get access to already loaded document into message window.
I can do similar thing by:
document.commandDispatcher.focusedWindow.wrappedJSObject.document
but it returns me document only when focus is set to that message - when
focus is somewhere else, I can't get document root node that way.
How can I get access to nsIDOMDocument of document actually shown in
message window?

TB extension for attachments
Hi,
I want to create an extension for TB that intercepts the openning of
attachment so that I can create some statistics about the most common
attachment types. I have identified this file:
msgHdrViewOverlay.js
And the function "openAttachment" inside it. When I modify that
function I was able to show an alert with a message so I guess I can
modify such function to do what I want.
Other useful functions are:
handleAttachmentSelection
attachmentListClick
However, I would prefer not to modify the chrome to do this. Is there
any way my extension can "intercept" the event o

http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Creating_toolbar_buttons
When I install extension my button is hidden. I can manually drag & drop
my button to the toolbar using view->toolbar->customize menu, but I want
to put it automatically on main toolbar when extension is installed.
How can I do extension to automatically place button on toolbar?
