Putting DIVs inline
Hi everybody!
I'm making a page for an exam at uni.
In two DIV blocks of it there should appear (and disappear) some
"icons", due to XML messages, so I dunno how many of them should I can
obtain; I want to show a small image, with its "icon name" under it, so
I thought to use a DIV where I put a small image, a <br/> and the icon
name (and text-align:center as CSS). My page is fully liquid, so my DIVS
may be resized, and I wanted them to be distributed line-by-line until
filling the DIV line, and after it the next one.
I tried giving them a fixed width and weight, and giving disp

-moz-border-radius with background image
Hi,
I am trying to use -moz-border-radius:100% and a (repeated in the
x-direction) background image in the same div. However, the background
image is drawn outside the curves of the corners (as if ignoring the
-moz-border-radius style), thus looking quite ugly. Is there a way to
make the background image only be drawn within the curves?

does anyone know how to add a new css property, for example

For me it is only necessary to make the browser understand those properties

them.

styling of <br>
Hi
I'm trying to put a little style in <br> (for example like
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22181), but I haven't be
able to get any result. Inspecting a page with DOM-I doesn't show any
rule applied to BRs, so it would seem that the behaviour is hardcoded.
In https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38370 there are several
comments about how to fix it but in the end it seems that some problems
made it better to just land there the HR fixes and leave the BR to
another one, but I can't find any reference to such bug filed after that.
Was it ever filed?

Question about position:fixed
I have seen it said by many people that frames are evil and that
position:fixed is the way to go. I have a problem with that. Frames
allow you to have one file that is essentially displayed on every page
in your site. That isn't possible with position:fixed unless I use SSI.
If I use SSI, my pages cannot be cached. So can someone explain to me
why pages that cannot be cached, or alternatively maintaining hundreds
of pages with identical portions (the position:fixed part) is supposed
to be better than frames.
Thanks.

Styling Scrollbars
Note this question is about Mozilla Suite 1.7.x, but I presume it
applies to Firefox too.
I want to style the scrollbars in my extension, or more specifically the
scrollbars in browser content. However, it seems like a no go.
I know themes can do it. So I experimented and distributed a full theme
(just a clone of classic with scrollars styled differently) with my
extension and it registers with Mozilla. I apply the theme, and hey
bingo the scrollbars are styled.
But is there an easier way to style scrolbars, or are themes only
allowed to do it?

Mozilla Firefox and hand-cursor
Hi all,
I made a page with a link on it to go back in the history of the browser.
(Javascript)
Now, I used following CSS-Code:

When I check this in IE, then I see a hand cursor when I hover the link, but
in Firefox I can't see that.
What do I have to change in my CSS-Code to have a hand-cursor when I hover
the link? (Firefox)
Thanks in advance,

Hiding columns in tables in script

CuteMenus 2 and nsIStyleSheetService
By default if you use nsIStyleSheetService to register a css to alter
the chrome, it takes effect on new windows opened from the parent. and
the css gets unregistered if you close the browser. is there a way to
register a css at the browser startup so that it takes effect on the
very first browser window load?

nsIStyleSheetService and chrome documents
Hi,
question about nsIStyleSheetService. Do style sheets added using it get
applied to content documents, chrome documents or both? (ie, is it more
like userContent.css, userChrome.css, or a combination of the two?)
Also, it would be nice if someone who knows CSS better than me could
check if my description of USER_SHEET and AGENT_SHEET at
http://developer-test.mozilla.org/en/docs/Using_the_Stylesheet_Service#Using_the_API
is correct (and maybe the IDL should actually document the two constants).
thanks,

Find Width Constraint
Using Deer Park Alpha Domi looking at nodeName menuitem I see in
menu.css max-width: 42, which computes to 700px. However farther down,
the computed width is only 429px. Up the tree, node menupopup ID
menu_BookmarksPopup has no listed style rule, while its computed width
is 433px. How I interpret this is that even though the style rules for
menuitem would permit an item to be 700px wide, its width is constrained
by the 433px width of menu_BookmarksPopup. Since no style rule is listed
for menu_BookmarksPopup, how do I find out what causes its width to be
only 433px? Looking further up t

Margins of tabels do not collapse
Hallo!

....
<p style="margin-bottom:200px">

<table border style="margin-top:200px">
<tr><td> table text </td></tr>
</table>

</html>
As I understand CSS, the margins of the table and the paragraph above
should collapse an there should be a gap of 200px between both
elements, shouldn't it?
This is what msie and opera do, but mozilla ff1.0 adds both margins to
a 400px gap.
Is this a bug? (If so, it is very old in mozilla)

CSS layout: 2cols + footer: DHTML problem
[Cross posted from n.p.m.general to this group, which I just now found.]
I'm looking for a Mozilla-compatible CSS-layout (header, 2 columns, footer)
where the footer will readjust its vertical position when nodes are added
dynamically to the DIV in column2. The addition dramatically changes the
display height of column 2. In the layout I've been tyring, the footer stays
where it was despite the fact that new nodes have been dynamically inserted
into the DIV in column 2; and so the dynamic content extends below the
footer.

Ideally a Remote XUL page should just string together standard motifs,

Is Mozilla/Firefox going to implement such a useful feature as automatic
counters and numbering in CSS (as defined here:

CSS 2 and 2.1 HTML style sheets
The CSS 2 (http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-CSS2/sample.html) and CSS 2.1
(http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS21/sample.html)specifications each include a sample
style sheets for HTML 4. The specs say 'Developers are encouraged to use it
as a default style sheet in their implementations.'
Every browser has its own proprietary default style sheet, which can cause
problems. One browser uses margin, while another browser uses padding to
achieve the same effect. IE uses 10px margin on the <body> while
FireFox/Mozilla use 8px. What's an author to do?
Does anyone actually use the sample style sheets?

filter works in MSIE, but not in Mozilla
Hi,
I made a nice script:
http://djwice.com/fade.php
it uses the MSIE style:
filter: Alpha(Opacity=100, FinishOpacity=0,
Style=3,StartX=20,StartY=40,FinishX=0,FinishY=0) gray;
and then fades the Finish Opacity and removes the gray filter on a

and back on a mouse out.
Does Mozilla also has some style stuff for FinishOpacity and Style?
I like the fading, so I would like it if it also works in mozilla, else I

Classic theme impovements
How do I proceed if I want to contribute some changes to the Mozilla
suite Classic theme. Of course I would need them approved - should I
fill a bug report or should I contact somebody responsible, first?

Visibility: collapse bug in Mozilla
I found several bugs in the support of visibility: collapse in Mozilla:
Rows with visibility: collapse are only correct hidden if the window or
frame has a vertical scrollbar. Without the vertical scrollbar
visibility: collapse behaves like visibility: hidden.
In a table with separated borders both the border-space above and below
a hidden row remains visible.
Colums with visibility: collapse are only hidden if the window or frame
has a vertical scrollbar. Without the vertical scrollbar visibility:
collapse has no effect.
In a table with collapsed borders only the content in a

Width of Abs posed boxes
Hi
How can I get the width of a box to size accoding to it's contents?
eg:
<div style="WIDTH: 100px; POSITION: relative">
<div style="border: solid; padding 3px; LEFT: 100%; POSITION:
absolute; TOP: 100px">
Some contents
<br>
some more contents
</div>
</div>
displays as I would like it to in IE. In Moz the contents dispays
outside of the border. I want the border to be pushed to the edge of
the contents.

document.styleSheets array -- is it W3C standard?
document.styleSheets works in both Moz and IE, and seems to be
universally used, but I can't find any reference to it on the W3C site.
Does anyone know if it's part of the specs or not? I can find a
reference to a StyleSheetList interface
(<http://www.w3.org/TR/2000/REC-DOM-Level-2-Style-20001113/>, but
nothing to suggest that the user agent must provide access to this using
the document.styleSheets array.
Is this part of the standards? If not, what is the proper approach to
accessing the stylesheet array in an XHTML document?
Cheers,
Martin

Problems using CSS' background-image
Hi.
I'm using the CSS background-image attribute to set the background image
for a span. The problem is that the images are randomly showed-not
showed in Mozilla and in IE. It seems to be a preloading problem. Images
are small, so I dont understand why is this happening.
Is there any way to solve this? Is this normal?
Thanks in advance.

Background image won't repeat (CSS)
I have a webpage that renders fine in IE and Opera but not at all in
Mozilla. Thanks to Bugzilla I've managed to get around some of Mozilla's
annoying problems but this one is really starting to grate now.
Bugzilla won't accept my attempts to report this as a bug and my
searches have not really turned up anything useful.
I'm nesting two DIVS inside another. The parent DIV has a background
image and is a container for two floating DIV's. The content in these
floating DIV's is fine but the background image for the parent DIV will
not display unless I set a height attribute. Th

Mozilla doesn't apply my span and div width attributes
Hello everyone.
I have something like this:
<div id="MyDiv">
<span class="ToBeSizedOnCss"></span>
<span class="AnyOther">Some Content</span>
</div>
and the the following css file linked:
..ToBeSizedOnCss
{
width: 30px;
background-image: url(http://url/to/some/image.gif);
}
IE does respect my exact width, but Mozilla doesn't. Part of the image
is overlapped by the rest of the content. Increasing the width doesn't
have any effect!
Is this supposed to happen? Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks in advance,
RODOLFO
